History

The Northfold Tribe was a proud one during the time of the Troll Wars. Their village based at the foot of the mountain ridge that devided the Highlands from the Hinterlands. They were fierce barbarians and heeded Thoradin's call during the formation of the Arathorian Empire, where Chieftain Taylor, also known as the Golden Wolf, bent the knee and swore an oath of loyalty. An oath that has never wavered since.Throughout the years, barbarism made room for prosperity, trade and civilization. An ancient tribe became a revered family and House Taylor remained loyal to the Kingdom of Stromgarde and the Trollbane line. They took on the golden wolf as their crest, in honour of the chieftain that had pledged them to the unification of Arathor. Many served and for the past three decades, the Northfold was led by Count Roldan Taylor, a paladin that sought to take Stromgarde into a new era. Proudly defending the ruins against Trolls, Ogres and the Syndicate, along with the other honourable protectors of Arathi.
Only to fall against the Horde during the Fourth War.
It was not until he had heard about his grandfather's demise, that Rhaldor Taylor returned to Stormwind City, after living in exile for the last five years. For the remainder of the Fourth War, Rhaldor would serve at the Royal Court of Stormwind, under the leadership of his grandfather's cousin, Count Didonus Essington. When the Alliance was victorious on the fields of Arathi, the Royal Court recognised Rhaldor as the new Lord of House Taylor and Count of Northfold.Stromgarde was weakened in the aftermath of the Fourth War, its strength diminished but its spirit unbroken. Lord Rhaldor Taylor did what he could to restore order and unity, establishing the Stromgarde Accord alongside Thane Hierrnir Wayland, Sir John Aelitharr, and Dame Aevelyn Aldran.Over the years, the Accord grew in scope and influence. Though House Taylor still held its place at the table, new voices had joined the council, shaping Stromgarde’s path forward.Northfold, too, saw change. The title of Countess was bestowed upon Lady Morrigan Ashworth, a Drustvari noblewoman of Brigmore whose lands were famed for their rich lumber trade. Lord Rhaldor first encountered her in Boralus, and though their union was forged as a bond of strategy and alliance, true affection soon followed. Together they stood for a time, guiding Northfold’s fortunes through hardship and triumph alike. In later years, the Countess turned her gaze homeward, choosing to devote herself to the story and legacy of her own house. Thus was born the banner of Ashworth, under which her kin and loyal retainers now march. Though her path diverged, the mark of Lady Morrigan endures within Northfold’s tale, her influence woven into the fabric of its history. With her departure, Northfold turned inward once more, sharpening its purpose and renewing its strength. Under the hand of Lord Rhaldor, the retinue now focuses firmly on its core goals: to defend its people, to nurture its hearth, and to carry its legacy forward into the chapters yet unwritten.

Life in northfold

Every part of Northfold has its place, from the Townfolk who form our foundation to the Defenders who safeguard our lands. To keep our stories fair and immersive, we also follow an IC Code of Conduct. Choose a path below to explore each in more detail.

Rank Structure

TIER 1 marks the beginning of every member’s journey in Northfold. Newcomers start here as they learn our ways, prove their loyalty, and find their place among us. It is a time of growth, training, and discovery before taking on greater responsibilities.

Recruits are new to our ranks and are still learning our ways, traditions, and the bonds that hold Northfold together.

The Redguards are more experienced members of TIER 1 who have learned our ways, upheld our standards, and shown they can be relied upon in the trials that face Northfold. Redguards still have more to learn, but they are being prepared to one day lead their own squadrons.

The final rank of TIER 1 is that of Field Lieutenant, a minor officer position. Field Lieutenants lead a small squadron consisting of one to three individuals, typically a mix of Recruits and Redguards. They are entrusted with guiding their squad members, ensuring their growth, and proving their own capability to lead in the field.

To enter the ranks of TIER 2, the Northfold Defenders must swear an oath of loyalty to House Taylor, pledging their service and allegiance to its cause.

The first rank of TIER 2. These stalwart protectors of Northfold have sworn their oath of loyalty and stand ready to guard the County and its people.

These are battle-hardened veterans of Northfold who have time and again proven their worth through loyalty, skill, and unwavering service. Whether in the heat of battle or during pivotal events, they have stood as shining examples of the strength and resolve that define the people of Northfold.

In common parlance, these are known as the Knights of Northfold, sworn into the esteemed Order of the Golden Wolf. As the most prestigious members of our ranks, they embody the highest ideals of honour, loyalty, and service. Holding a major officer position, Sworn Wolves command great respect and bear the weighty responsibility of guiding and protecting Northfold in all its endeavors.

The Townfolk are the heart of Northfold. Farmers, craftsmen, merchants, and families, they form the foundation of daily life in the county. While not soldiers, their work, stories, and presence bring depth and realism to our role-play, reminding us what the Defenders fight to protect. Characters in this role can take many shapes, from alchemists and scholars to tradesmen and artisans, each adding to the living fabric of Northfold.

IC Code of conduct

I. FOUNDATIONS
Loyalty
All who bear the twin wolves are bound to House Taylor and the retinue of Northfold. The banner is not mere cloth, but honour and blood. To dishonour it is to dishonour every soul who fought, bled, and died to raise it high.
Honour
We hold fast to discipline, loyalty, and courage. These are the pillars that steel our resolve. Wealth, glory, or comfort may fade, but honour endures.
Duty
Every rank, from Townfolk to Sworn Wolf, shares the burden of the Fold. Some defend hearth and harvest, others march to war, yet all serve. No task is beneath us when done in the banner’s name.
Unity
We are many voices, many blades, but one retinue. Pride in self must never rise above duty to the Fold. Divided, we fall. United, we endure.
Legacy
House Taylor is not a passing company of mercenaries. We are heirs to bloodlines, guardians of a people, defenders of a County. Each oath sworn is a stone laid in the foundation of our legacy.
II. RANKS & CHAIN OF COMMAND
Ranks
Townfolk
The backbone of Northfold, though unblooded in the Retinue. Their duty is loyalty, labour, and truth. They support the Retinue by tending hearth, harvest, and hall. Their faith is a shield as vital as any blade.
Recruit
The untested. Bound to obedience, silence, and endurance. They learn discipline and humility, proving themselves worthy of the Retinue.
Redguard
The tried and trusted. Steady in camp, stalwart in battle. They are the steel line of the Retinue and set the standard for those beneath them.
Field Lieutenant
Leaders of squads and keepers of order. Their commands are law on the field. The lives of Recruits and Redguards rest upon their judgment, and their failures weigh no less than their victories.
Defender
The sworn wall of the County. They guard Northfold’s people and land without hesitation. Their courage is beyond question, their duty beyond doubt.
Wolfblade
Champions of valour. In council and battle alike, they embody discipline and honour. They lead with both sword and word, guiding the Retinue by example. Their command yields only to the Sworn Wolves.
Sworn Wolf
The highest rank of the Retinue. Custodians of its legacy, commanders of its strength, and arbiters of justice in House Taylor’s name. Their word carries the weight of law, their duty to both Retinue and County absolute. They are the Knights of Northfold.
The Chain of Command
• Orders descend, discipline ascends.
• A Recruit obeys the Redguard; the Redguard obeys the Lieutenant; the Lieutenant obeys the Defender or Wolfblade; all heed the Sworn Wolves. The Count’s word is final.
• To defy the chain is to fracture the Retinue. Without discipline, no force can stand.
• Higher ranks are bound to instruct, protect, and command. Lower ranks are bound to listen, learn, and obey.
• The Retinue serves Northfold, not itself. No rank, no honour, no pride stands above the County we defend.
III. CONDUCT AMONG MEMBERS
Unity Before Self
• Pride and ego have no place in the Retinue. The Fold’s strength lies in the pack, not the lone wolf.
• Personal quarrels are to be set aside when duty calls.
Camaraderie
• Aid your fellows without hesitation, whether in battle, on the march, or at the hearth.
• Share hardships and share spoils. Honour is carried together, not hoarded alone.
• No Retinue member is left behind unless death itself makes it so.
Discipline of Tongue and Temper
• Speak to comrades with respect, even in disagreement. A sharp tongue can wound deeper than steel.
• Quarrels and grievances are to be brought through the proper channels, not settled with fists or blades, unless ordered so.
• Excessive drunkenness, disorder, or neglect of duty brings shame on the whole Retinue.
Honour in Fellowship
• Each member, from Recruit to Sworn Wolf, is a brother or sister in arms. Treachery against one is treachery against all.
• To strike down or sabotage a fellow member is an unpardonable crime.
• Laughter, grief, and victory are shared equally, for the Retinue endures together.
IV. CONDUCT WITH OUTSIDERS
Bearing of the Retinue
• Every soldier is the face of Northfold’s Retinue. Your words and actions weigh upon House Taylor’s name.
• Speak with discipline; act with restraint. A careless tongue can undo what a hundred swords defend.
Allies and Neutrals
• Show courtesy to those who stand beside us or dwell under our banner.
• Quarrels with allies are to be curbed; grievances are to be brought before command, not shouted in public.
• Aid the folk of Northfold when called upon. The Retinue protects the Kingdom, not just itself.
Rivals and Foes
• Face enemies with honour. Treachery and needless cruelty dishonour the Retinue more than defeat.
• Parley, treaty, and truce are to be observed as strictly as orders in battle.
• In victory, show restraint; in defeat, show dignity.
Public Conduct
• When wearing Retinue colours, you are ever on display. Drunkenness, vulgarity, or reckless brawling in public bring shame to the Fold.
• Respect the laws of the land in which you march, unless duty commands otherwise.
V. Battlefield Code
Obedience in War
• Orders are not requests. Delay is weakness; hesitation kills.
• In battle, the word of your commanding officer is law.
Courage and Cohesion
• Stand your ground. Abandonment of comrades is cowardice and treason.
• Fight as a unit, not as lone glory-seekers. A blade without the line is a dead blade.
• Fear may whisper, but cowardice is a choice, and that choice is death before dishonour.
Conduct in Combat
• Strike with discipline, not recklessness. A wild charge is wasteful; a measured strike wins wars.
• Protect the standard-bearer and officers. The Retinue without its heart is broken.
• Aid the fallen where you can. A comrade’s life is worth more than an enemy’s corpse.
Spoils and Restraint
• Plunder is forbidden without sanction from command.
• Prisoners, captives, and wounded foes are to be treated as ordered. Neither cruelty nor mercy without command.
• Blood spilled for sport, vengeance, or dishonour brings ruin upon Northfold’s name.
VI. OATHS & SECRETS
The Trial Before the Oath
• Recruits and Redguards march under discipline, but bear no binding oath.
• Their years are the proving ground. Only through loyalty, endurance, and valour are they deemed ready to swear.
The Oath of Service
• Upon ascension, a Defender swears fealty to House Taylor, to the County of Northfold, and to the Retinue itself.
• The oath binds them to defend the land, its people, and its lord without falter until death or formal release.
• A Defender who breaks their oath betrays not only the Retinue but all of Northfold.
• Sworn by Defenders upon elevation to their station:
“I do solemnly swear and pledge my Loyalty to House Taylor and to the County of Northfold.
To defend its people, its lands, and its name until the line of Taylor is no more or death shall take me,
and to uphold the Honour of the Retinue of Northfold.
I swear to obey my commanders without hesitation,
to hold the line beside my comrades and never abandon them,
to guard the weak, the innocent, and those entrusted to my care,
and to never raise my blade against an undeserving or defenceless foe.
I swear never to speak false counsel, nor to give treasonous word,
never to shirk from duty, nor to place my pride above the Retinue,
and to endure hardship and peril as befits one sworn to Loyalty and Honour.
I pledge myself to be the shield that defends Northfold’s people,
the sword that strikes its enemies,
and the steadfast stone that does not falter.
By my blood and my breath, and with the Light as my witness, I am bound until death or release.
Indil’thar no’Darador - By Loyalty and Honour, we serve.”
The Oath of Brotherhood
• Upon induction into the Order of the Golden Wolf, a Knight swears the Oath of Brotherhood.
• This vow binds them not only in service, but in secrecy, counsel, and eternal loyalty to their fellow Wolves.
• A Sworn Wolf carries the weight of the Retinue’s honor. To betray the Oath of Brotherhood is to tear out the heart of Northfold itself.
• Sworn by Knights upon induction into the Order of the Golden Wolf:
“I do solemnly swear and pledge myself to Northfold and the House Taylor.
To defend Northfold and obey its Count until the line of Taylor is no more or death shall take me,
and to uphold the honour of the Order of the Golden Wolf.
Furthermore, I swear to protect all those that require my protection,
not to slay an undeserving or defenceless adversary,
not to take part in a false judgement or treason,
or to withdraw if it cannot be prevented, to never give evil counsel,
and to help, if possible, a fellow being in distress.
I pledge myself to be the shield that protects the cradle of Humanity.
I will be the fist that vanquishes the enemies of Northfold.
I will be without fear in the face of our foes.
In the eyes of the Light, I shall be brave and upright.
I will speak truth, always, even if it leads to my demise.
I shall protect the ruler of Northfold and his retinue.
I am the Golden Wolf that shines through the darkness.
Indil’thar no’Darador!”
The Silence of the Retinue
• Secrets of the Retinue and House Taylor are not for idle tongues or outsider ears.
• Plans spoken in council remain within council; oaths whispered in ceremony remain unbroken.
• A loose tongue imperils both Retinue and County.
The Weight of Oath and Secret
• Oaths are sacred, and secrets are steel.
• To break either is treason most dire.
• Such crimes are met with the harshest judgment, for trust once shattered cannot be restored.
VIII. DISCIPLINE & PENALTIES
The Law of the Retinue
Honour and Loyalty are the lifeblood of the Retinue. Without it, the shield wall breaks, the banner falls, and the County is lost. No infraction is too small to be ignored, and no betrayal too great to go unpunished.
Minor Infractions
Sloth, disrespect, disorder, neglect of duty.
• Punishments: reprimand, extra duties, loss of privileges, or public penance before the Retinue.
Serious Offenses
Repeated insubordination, drunkenness while on watch, ill-willed brawling among comrades, disobedience of lawful orders.
• Punishments: confinement, forfeiture of pay or spoils, demotion in rank, or suspension from duties.Grave Crimes
Cowardice in battle, abandonment of comrades, theft from Retinue or County, striking a superior officer.
• Punishments: dishonour before the banner, stripping of rank and arms, exile from the Retinue.Treasonous Acts
Breaking sworn oaths, betrayal of secrets, desertion in war, or rebellion against command.
• Punishments: execution in disgrace, name struck from the rolls of Northfold, denial of all honours in death.
Authority of Judgment
• Field Lieutenants and Defenders may settle minor infractions.
• Wolfblades and Sworn Wolves hold authority over serious offenses and grave crimes.
• The Count alone judges treason, oath-breaking, or betrayal of County or Retinue. His word is law.
IX. THE CREED OF NORTHFOLD
We are the Retinue of Northfold.
We are the shield that guards the Kingdom,
the sword that strikes its foes,
and the fire that keeps its hearths alight.
We are bound by Loyalty,
we are tempered by Honour,
and we endure as one.
We stand until death,
we serve until released,
we fight until the Golden Wolf no longer howls.
Indil’thar no’Darador - By Loyalty and Honour, we serve.

OOC Code of conduct

I. REAL LIFE COMES FIRST
- Your health, work, and family are more important than the game.
- If you need time away, let us know, no details are required beyond what you’re comfortable sharing.
II. RESPECT COMES FIRST IN RP
- Treat all players with courtesy, regardless of character rank or role.
- Discrimination, harassment, or hate speech of any kind will not be tolerated.
III. CONSENT & BOUNDARIES*
- RP must always respect player comfort.
- No godmodding (forcing actions on others), no power-emoting, no meta-gaming.
- ERP is never to be conducted publicly or under the guild tag.
IV. LORE & FAIR PLAY
- Keep RP grounded in Warcraft lore and Northfold’s storylines.
- Avoid lore-breaking, unfair advantages, or forcing outcomes.
- Conflict RP is welcome, but must always be agreed upon.
V. ACTIVITY & COMMUNICATION
- Use the #leave-of-absence channel if you will be away for a period of time (illness, holiday, work, etc.).
- Silent vanishing harms continuity. A quick word helps the story continue smoothly.
- No alts in the guild, except for transmog purposes.
VI. DISCORD & COMMUNITY
- Discretion is expected: what is said in Guild Discord stays in Guild Discord.
- Only long-standing members who step away for IRL reasons, but wish to remain connected, may receive the @ally/friend role. Exceptions may be granted at the discretion of guild leadership.
- Try to be active not only in-game but also OOC on Discord. Share, converse, and connect. We want to build genuine bonds, not just characters.
VII. REPRESENTATION
- Wearing the guild tag makes you a representative of Northfold.
- Keep guild RP respectful in public spaces. IC antagonism is fine, OOC toxicity is not.
VIII. RESOLUTION OF ISSUES
- Bring OOC disputes to officers privately.
- We value fairness, transparency, and keeping RP fun for everyone.

We are a no-nonsense group of mostly adult role-players, with an average age between 27 and 35. World of Warcraft is our main hobby, but we also enjoy other games together such as Return to Moria, Space Marine 2, Minecraft, and No Man's Sky. Banter and friendly teasing are part of our culture, so it is important that you can take a joke and are not easily offended. We value kindness above all and do not tolerate discrimination. Real-life politics stay out of our community, and any issues between members should be handled with maturity. Our role-play follows fair-play principles, meaning no meta-gaming, lore-breaking, power-emoting, or force-killing.We expect activity both IC and OOC. This means we expect our members to also create an OOC bond with us through chatting on Discord and in the /guild chat in-game.Public ERP is never allowed with the guild tag, and we do not allow role-play involving minors.Alts are only permitted if they are the same IC character with a different transmog. On art, we embrace both AI-generated creations and commissioned works from real artists, sharing and celebrating both equally. At the end of the day, we are here to tell great stories, share laughs, and enjoy the game together as the bunch of lunatics we are.

Joining Northfold means becoming part of a close-knit role-play community with around 35 members, 24 of whom are currently active. We keep our roster fresh by clearing inactive members every few weeks, ensuring that our guild remains lively and engaged. Northfold is deeply connected to the Stromgarde RP scene, with our guild leader Rhaldor being one of its founding members. This means you will often find us involved in community-wide events, campaigns, and collaborations. We use Stromgarde (BfA version) as our main RP hub, and we expect our members to move the main part of their role-play there to be part of our ongoing storylines. For in-game purposes, we also use Ashran as a proxy for Northfold itself. We are looking for mature players who can match our love for banter, bring strong character-driven role-play, and contribute meaningfully to our stories. Our number one rule is simple: real life always comes first. However, when you are in-game, we expect proper activity. Not just a day or two a week, but enough to truly be part of the ongoing narrative and guild life.As a member, you will have opportunities to participate in everything from large-scale community campaigns to smaller, intimate guild plots. You will be part of a group that values character development, in-character consistency, and out-of-character respect. If you enjoy weaving stories with others, can handle a bit of friendly teasing, and want to be part of a long-standing RP presence in Stromgarde, Northfold might be your home.

Role-play is at the heart of Northfold, and our calendar is always alive with activity. We host our main Guild RP events every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday from 20:00 ST to around 22:00 to 23:00 ST.We also take part in the Stromgarde Community RP events at the same time, where our members mingle and collaborate with the wider role-play scene. Our events are diverse, ranging from combat and investigations to social gatherings and everyday life in our setting. We even have one hardcore event per month!Alongside these, we run two to three major story arcs throughout the year. Each arc follows a larger plotline, broken into chapters, with roughly one chapter unfolding each month. These stories keep our narrative evolving and give members a real sense of progression. Whether a one-shot or part of a larger arc, our events can take us to every corner of Azeroth, bringing variety and fresh experiences to our role-play.At the start of every month, we publish a Guild Events Roadmap outlining all upcoming events for that month. Members can sign up for these events directly on our Guild Discord Server, ensuring everyone knows what is coming and can plan their participation.

Several of our members serve as Dungeon Masters, creating engaging plots and interactive scenes. We are always open to new DMs and happy to teach those who want to learn. Between structured events, our members often arrange spontaneous role-play in our hubs, Stromgarde (BfA version) for community scenes and Ashran as our in-game stand-in for Northfold, ensuring there is always something happening for those who log in.Whether you thrive in tense combat encounters, unraveling mysteries, political maneuvering, or simply enjoying the small moments of daily life, our event schedule is designed to keep you immersed in the world and connected to the people around you.
